The mail app problem

Every Sunday before sleep is the same thought: I need a better a mail app.

The problem

(I have shorter attention span than a goldfish.([https://time.com/3858309/attention-spans-goldfish/] In my role as partner consultant, multitasking is mandatory. Also, email is a core tool and system to manage the office, clients, team and everything.

The problem is there: I need a tool that let me finish my work there before I start a new task without finishing the current. No mail app fully solved that for me. No mail app fully solved that for me.

What I really need

  1. Speed (in load and search)
  2. Send later feature
  3. Handle multiple emails provider (Gmail, Microsoft and GMX).
  4. Works natively in Mac OS and iOS.

What I really want

  1. Nice UI.
  2. Same app in desktop and phone.
  3. Templates (surprise, surprise, we use it all the time).
  4. Fast access to unread.

What I tried (and their problems)

  1. Superhuman: I was excited, after a minute, disappointed. Only works with Gmail (I saw now supports Outlook), they force you to work like they want, really bad UX (you need – literally – a real human onboard to understand how works).
  2. Mac Mail: no send later and the attachments are a disaster (who wants the icon in the footer of the email? Just add a bar).
  3. Airmail: slow and bad UI (in my opinion).
  4. Outlook: too integrated with Microsoft and the environment, works well if everything and everyone uses Microsoft’s ecosystem.
  5. Spark: is my current choice, have everything I need and want. The problem is: slightly slow, sometimes changes the font of the email to Times and the UI is not the best.

My current solution

As I said, Spark is my mail app, but I don’t like it at all.

I write this as a mental note; next Sunday I will read this to just go to sleep.
